Do it yourself concrete cutting?

DIY concrete cutting is possible for small, simple jobs, but the risks are real. Concrete dust contains respirable crystalline silica, and HSE guidance on diamond coring says breathing it can cause serious lung diseases such as silicosis. Wet cutting and effective extraction reduce dust, and suitable respirators are still needed. You also risk hitting hidden reinforcement, pipes or cables, and blades can bind or kick back. Heavy saws are tiring and noisy, and slurry needs cleaning up before it dries. Thick, reinforced or structural concrete is best left to professionals.
